Vic Mathias Shores At Town Lake Metro Park

Adress: 700 W Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78704

Today’s location I have for you is Vic Mathias Shores, located in front of the Long Center. At the Mathias Shore you will find many people walking their dogs, people out for a run or there may even be an event going on. Now, you will notice people going closer to the shore where if you get the perfect angle you will get a nice picture of Austin’s Skyline. When I was younger I used to go to Mathias shores to walk around with my older sisters and I never thought about it being a insta-worthy location.

I used to go here just to walk around and now every time I go I have to stop and get a picture for Instagram. Within the park you will find spots to stop and take a picture. Whether if its by the river or just a causal picture in the grass, I guarantee you will get an insta-worthy picture. Last week I saw a couple having their maternity photos taken here. This location is not only an Instagrammable location but it can also be a place to have your engagement, family, or graduation photos taken. For my prom in 2016, my friends and I actually went to the Mathias Shores to have our picture taken.

If you’re looking for a location next to a river to have your photo taken, this is the perfect place! Just walk towards the shore where you will get an insta-worthy picture by the water with Austin’s skyline as your background. Or for a layback picture grab your favorite blanket/towel, lay it on the grass and pose for a picture. Come back next week for a very trendy Insta-worthy location!

My 1st Blogging Experience

Screen Shot 2018-12-06 at 4.07.36 PM

Being new to the blogging world I was confused with how everything worked but after a couple of post I got a bit more comfortable with it. At first I didn’t want to promote my blog on my personal Twitter account and I almost ended up creating a new account. I talked myself out of it because I shouldn’t be “shy” about others reading my blog, since this is what my major requires. When I tweeted about my blog I didn’t get any feedback from my followers, so I thought no one was reading my blog. After a couple of blog post I decided to check my stats on my blog and noticed that people were reading my blog. Twitter was an effective tool for my blog.

I can now say that I know how to start a blog and this can really benefit me in the future. If later in my life someone in my workplace needs help creating a blog or promoting it I can help with it. I gain so much knowledge on promoting my content, though I only used Twitter to promote my content. I now know and feel more comfortable promoting my content in my other social medias to grow my blog.

Screen Shot 2018-12-06 at 4.09.10 PM When I started my blog I thought only one person was going to be reading my blog, but to my surprise my most viewed post has 16 views. I know 16 views isn’t a lot but it’s something. In that blog post I talked about my favorite blogger named Emma who runs Emma’s Edition. That week I when I posted the blog post about Emma was also my most popular week, I got 9 views and 5 visitors. I believe that was my popular post and popular week because Emma actually favorited my tweet where I mentioned my blog. What really surprised me about my sites stats data was that I got a view from China, Japan and the Philippines. Who knew I would get three views from across the country!

My Top 3 Favorite Locations

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These past few months I’ve been going around Austin, Texas, searching for Instagrammable locations. So far, I’ve gone to six location. With all locations being different in their own way, today I have decided to pick my top three favorites spots out of the six. It wasn’t easy deciding which locations were my favorites, they were all so insta-worthy! So here are my top favorites:

My Top 3:

  1. The Long Center
  2. Mueller Park
  3. Hope Outdoor Gallery

I choose those three locations because they are locations that I will 100% be going back to. The Hope Outdoor Gallery is a graffiti park and it’s also a great spot to have a photoshoot. It’s the most unique places in Austin, Texas and it’s one of the top tourist spots. At Mueller Park there are many locations within the park were one can take pictures. Located in the middle of the park is a lake, that makes a perfect background for a photo. Lastly, at The Long Center, just like the rest you are able to find different spots within the property where you can take your insta-worthy picture. The reason I made it my top location is because you can get an amazing photo with Austin’s skyline as your background.

There are so many locations in Austin that I still plan on going to. So far these are my top three out of six i’ve gone to. I know most of the locations involve Austin’s skyline and that is because I like to show off my city. Also, I know my blog is called “Austin’s Insta-Worthy Spots” but that doesn’t mean the locations I talk about are only locations to take Instagram photos. You don’t have to go to these locations only for Instagram photos, they can be for any social media (or not even social media). I’m so excited to look for more locations and I promise to change it up a bit. Stay tune for more locations!

Texas State Capitol

fullsizeoutput_12e8

Want to show your Texas pride on your social media? Well the Texas State Capitol is the place for that!

Address: 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701

Not only do you get the capitol building in the background of your photo, but all around the property you will be able to find a perfect location to pose for a picture. The capitol is the perfect location to have a photoshoot. Not only is the Texas State Capitol an Instagramable location, but also a place to have special occasion photos taken. My sister had her quinceñera pictures taken there, my aunt had her wedding photos there and in high school my drill team had our team photos taken there.

Tips if you go to the Texas State Capitol to have a photoshoot:

  • If you are taking wedding pictures don’t go during the weekend, unless you want random people in the background of your photos.
  • This is a popular location so be aware of having people in the background of your photos.
  • If you walk a block before the Capitol and stand in the middle of the road, you can get a sick shot of you and the capitol in the background.
  • A camera phone will take quality photos but if you’re having a photoshoot at night a “professional” camera will be better. (for Instagram photos)

Hope Outdoor Gallery

fullsizeoutput_12b2

In the mood to have a photo sesh at an edgy location? That place is the HOPE Outdoor Gallery or what I like to call it, Castle Hill.

Address: 1012 Baylor St, Austin, TX 78703

The HOPE Outdoor Gallery aka Castle Hill is a unique location to visit while in Austin, Texas. Many local street artists go to express their art with spray paint, but other just go to spray paint random things. I personally go to Castle Hill to take photos of the graffiti and others. It is open to the public and it’s FREE!

fullsizeoutput_12b4

Though Castle Hill is a graffiti park it’s also a great spot to have a photoshoot. This week I took my little sisters to see the graffiti and I saw a kid having his senior year photos taken (you can see him on the first picture on the bottom right corner). Castle Hill is one of the top tourist spots in Austin, if you go during the weekend you will see many people there. There are many spots where you can get a perfect picture for your Instagram. My two favorite stops to take a photo is an open window one can sit and on top of the hill where you can get some of Austin’s skyline as your background.

Here are some tips if you decide to go to the HOPE Outdoor Gallery (Castle Hill):

  • Don’t go during the weekends because it WILL be crowded
  • Best time to get a good photo will be around sunset (5 p.m.- 6 p.m.)
  • Don’t days before it rained because it will be muddy
  • You don’t need a professional camera to take photos unless you can’t to get a good shot of Austin’s Skyline during sunset.
  • Be careful going up the hill (I’ve gone so many times and slip almost every-time)

If you visited Austin, Tx and didn’t go to the HOPE Outdoor Gallery did you really go to Austin, Tx?

Zilker Park (during ACL)

fullsizeoutput_1097

Zilker park is another park in Austin that is Instagramable, especially during ACL. ACL stands for Austin City Limits, which is an annual Music festival that occurs at Zilker Park. Music festivals have become a big deal on social media, so people want to show off when they go to one. ACL makes it easy for one to capture a good picture for your Instagram by adding props around the park for one to pose in front of.

fullsizeoutput_1137When you first enter the festival there’s a “Welcome to ACL” sign at the main entrance, though I didn’t see anyone taking picture in front of it, they did snap a picture of it before entering the festival. Inside the festival you will find many areas you can stop and snap a picture for Instagram. Many took pictures at the iconic ACL flags, I believe that the flags are the main spot at ACL to take pictures for Instagram. If you search ”#ACL2018 or #ACLfest” half of the pictures under that hashtag are people posing in front of flags. Not going to lie, I also took a picture in front of the flags and posted it on my Instagram.

Tip of you go to ACL to take photos:

  • If you are wanting to get a photo at ACL but also want a good spot to see a performance, go early! (i made the mistake of going late and didn’t get good pics)
  • Wear an outfit you never thought about wearing, music festivals are a place to exaggerate your inner fashion designer.
  • Get a picture at the “ACL Fest” frame located in the middle of the park, it shows Downtown Austin as your background (there’s a line, go early if you don’t want to wait in line for 15 minutes)
  • Don’t just smile for the camera , be creative with your poses!
  • Have fun at ACL and don’t forget to stay hydrated!!

Mueller Lake Park

fullsizeoutput_10bd

Looking for a park in Austin, Texas to have a photo shoot? Well, Mueller Lake Park is the place to go!

Address: 4550 Mueller Blvd, Austin, TX 78723

If I had to pick a park in Austin to have a photo shoot it will have to be Mueller Lake Park. Walking around the park makes you want to stop and have your picture taken or just take a picture of the view. Many go to Mueller to have their engagement, graduation, family photos taken but others go to have a fun day at the park. Especially during the weekends, you will see a lot of people having a photoshoot at Mueller Park.

At Mueller Park there are many locations within the park were one can take pictures. Located in the middle of the park is a lake, that makes a perfect background for a photo. Around the lake you will find rocks or steps were one can sit/stand and pose for a picture. Though many prefer to take pictures in front of the lake (from what I observed) there is also many trees surrounding the park and pillars; one can lean on the trees or pillars and pose for the camera. There is even small bridge one can sit on, which is what I decided to do, and got a perfect pic for my Instagram.

fullsizeoutput_10bb

Here are some tips if you decide to go to Mueller Lake Park for a photoshoot:

  • You don’t need a professional camera, you phone will do just fine (unless you’re wanted professional photos taken)
  • Don’t go days after it’s been raining non-stop because it WILL be muddy
  • Be comfortable in front of the camera, many go there to have their pictures taken, so don’t be shy
  • A good time to go around this time of the year is around 4:00- 7:00 p.m, it won’t be too hot (we don’t want to be sweaty)
  • It’s a good location to take engagement, family, graduation and prom photos

Muller Lake Park is Insta-Worthy!

A New Edition!

Today I will be talking about a recent blogger that I found. A couple of days ago I stumbled upon a blog called “Emma’s Edition.”

Screen Shot 2018-10-18 at 9.33.25 PM.png Emma Cortes is a Lifestyle Blogger from Seattle. Emma’s blog focuses on fashion, career and life tips. I spent about an hour reading her blog posts and looking through her Instagram, which you should totally follow because her feed is goals! While reading her post I came across one that caught my eye.

The post is from July 2018 and it is titled “Seattle’s Most Instagrammable Places: Capitol Hill”. I was intrigued by this post because it’s what my blog is about. In the post Emma gives us seven spots in Capitol Hill, Seattle WA, to take Instagram pictures. The way she laid out her post was superb. First, she told us the location, then showed a picture, after she gave us a little description of the spot she chose and lastly the address of the location. After reading this blog post, I got inspiration for my blog and motivation to step up my Instagram game.

from Emma’s Insta: @EmmasEdition

Unlike my blog, Emma blogs about fashion, career and life tips. Some of her post consists of: outfit ideas, internship one should take, grad school tips, life after college, tips on taking photos in public and she even has a section for blogging tips on her site. Looking at Emma’s blog and Instagram makes me wish I lived in Seattle, she is always posting about cute places to go to in Seattle. And don’t get me started on her style because it is goals, like can I have her closet! Emma’s Edition is now my favorite lifestyle/fashion blog page, she gets straight to the point of her posts and uses a lot of images.

Make sure to check out Emma on Instagram, Twitter and Emma’s Edition

The Long Center for the Performing Arts

fullsizeoutput_f4e.jpeg

The first place I have for you today is, the Long Center for the Performing Arts, located on South 1st and West Riverside. People usually go to the Long Center for plays, ballets, operas, etc. Well, today we aren’t going to watch the ballet, we are taking some shots for Instagram!

The view of Downtown Austin from the H-E-B Terrance (at the Long Center), will make a great post for Instagram. Your picture will show Austin’s skyline or if you prefer to take a photo in front of the center’s glass windows that will also make a splendid photo background. The window’s have blue and some brown tint to them, which you can capture during the day time but not so much during the night. The Long Center is currently celebration its 10th year anniversary and have added window decals for people to go and take pictures in front of. They won’t be up for long so you better go and get some shots!

fullsizeoutput_f46 fullsizeoutput_f4c

If you plan on having you picture taken at the Long Center here are some tips:

  • Don’t go at night unless you have a professional camera or a good quality phone camera.
  • If you plan on going at night DON’T wear all black (I did this once and it was a bad idea!)
  • I recommend going during sunset or if you’re a morning person go during sunrise.
  • Great location for prom and graduation pictures!
  • There is also staircases around the location that make a good spot to pose for a pic! (check out my Instagram)

The Long Center is a popular place, so don’t be shy to stop and take a picture. You gotta do it for the Instagram!
